WFI WINS PROPELLE PITCH COMPETITION AT REALSCREEN WEST!

The Wookey Films family had great cause for celebration this week, as our co-founder Janelle won the Propelle Pitch competition at Real Screen West in Dana Point, California!

Alongside her amazing mentor, Confluential Films’ Senior Vice President of Television, Myiea Coy, Janelle made her 20 minute pitch to executives from four major content streamers. Judges included Jamila Farwell, Director of Documentary at Netflix, Zara Frankel, Senior Director of Current Programming and Development at PBS, Marcie Hume, Senior Executive Producer at A&E, and Salena Rochester, Vice President of Current Production and Development at NBC Universal.

Janelle competed alongside several incredible women creators to earn her victory, each with their own excellent story to tell. Winning the competition means that Janelle's pitch, a documentary series about Residential School survivors and their journey towards healing and justice, will now be considered for a formal development deal with Propelle’s founder, Abby Greensfelder of Everywoman Studios. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting prospect!
